I have a passion for beautiful scenery so I hike trails and routes to see and capture it with photography.

During my twenties I was a self-employed commercial photographer.  In 1976 the Professional Photographers of Washington awarded me the Degree of Associate Fellow of Photography.

I used a 4X5-view camera often.  I also had an 8X10 view camera and several large format aerial cameras, two of which took 9-1/2″ wide X 250’ long roll films and one used 5″ wide roll films.  The largest print I made was 6-1/2 X 12 FEET.

For hiking I mostly used Nikon 35mm film cameras and lenses but actually hauled a 4X5 Graflex on some day hikes and even backpacking rarely.  Of course, now I use a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex).
It was difficult to earn a decent living as a professional photographer so I left that vocation but kept photography as a hobby.

About my technique

Many of my photographs are stitched together from numerous images.  It is easy to visually identify any panorama due to a wide aspect ratio of 2:1 or 3:1.  However, the technique of stitching multiple images can also be used for photos with an aspect ratio of 3:2.  They may look like a typical single frame photo, but much higher resolution and HDR (High Dynamic Range) can be achieved.  The file names for all of my stitched photos have the suffix P.
